Today, English is one of the most important languages worldwide. Therefore, we English teachers at the Stiftsgymnasium Admont set a high value on our teaching and strive towards planning our lessons carefully and individually to enable our students to interact with people all over the world. Learning English is definitely hard work in terms of studying vocabulary but English should also be fun and made lively by various games, creative lessons, role plays and interactions with Native Speakers.

In the following we will show different facets of our communicative and individual English lessons. Enjoy!

A Trip To London

When going on a journey, it is always the best to be well-prepared. Therefore the students of 3B were asked to create London brochures. The overall topic was London, the students then decided on a specific theme completely by themselves. In the end, brochures on the Royal family, on the Great Fire of London and on London attractions were made – have a look at some of their great pieces of work!

Asking the way and giving directions

When dealing with directions and asking the way, the students of 2C were asked to write a dialogue between two knights. Sir Florestan asks Sir Mortimer how to get to Hanover Castle because he needs to bring her an important letter. With the help of a map Mortimer tells Sir Florestan the way … The students came up with great dialogues, some of them were written in a very knightly way, others in a very humorous way. Enjoy one of them, a dialogue written by Bernadette Gössweiner! The drawing was done by Samuel Glanzer.

Tag der offenen Tür – English presentation

Together with our language assisstant Sam some students of 2C presented “Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?“ to our young visitors. Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, two famous British detectives, tried to find the thief – with the help of our young guests. The students and visitors enjoyed playing detective – thanks a lot to Sam for coming up with such a great idea and helping us put it into reality!!

The most dangerous animals of Australia

After having read and collected various data on the top ten most dangerous animals living in Australia, the students of 3B were asked to come up with brochures on the topic. They did a great job, just have a look at some of their folders!

A visit from Sam to the 1st form

The students of 1D were lucky to be visited by our language assistant. Together they played some games and had a lot of fun.

Fun in the classroom with Sam our native speaker

The students of the 3rd class really enjoyed meeting our new native speaker. They particularly enjoyed the "murder game". :-)

Pancakes

The students of the English4Fun group made their first pancakes and enjoyed their delicious lunch!

Halloween

As Halloween is approaching, the students of the "English 4 Fun" class decided to carve pumpkins! These traditional Jack o'lanterns (that's what they are called) are put on doorsteps and used as decorations prior to and on Halloween.
